Starting in the late 1970s, Josh created two sizes of small Planets: 1.5" and 1.875" diameter. In time, the smaller size was retired, and the larger size works, which then became the smallest of Josh's solid glass worlds, were re-labeled “Little Planets."
Recently, while cleaning out Josh's house to prepare for an upcoming renovation, we came across a cache of 1.5" Planets that had been made in the 1990s. Josh had carefully packed and set these aside to keep for himself, and suddenly here they were, untouched for decades, each one a tiny time capsule from the previous millennium!
This piece is a completely spherical orb, 1.5" diameter, signed JS and the approximate year it was made.
